Brad, did I miss something? I didn't see any dissuading reasons for not dumping into a home system--sounds like several people have successfully done so for some time. What are the specific reasons your'e thinking of? I'm thinking of doing this too.
RE: anyone got rid of their mattress.
We removed the mattress from our Lance. We installed 2" standard (high density) foam and a 1-1/2" memory foam from Costco. We gained several inches of head room, and the most comfortable bed we've owned. Our 60 something achy backs love it. Good luck, Chuck Manzer
